BTEC HNC in Performing Arts (General)

About the course

This multi -disciplinary course offers dynamic, intensive and practical training for performers, developing valuable creative skills through workshops and live projects.

You will work in the wider industry ensuring a strong, work-related emphasis and focus to all of your training.

Creative communication is central to the programme of study, encouraging Performers to develop a range of skills that will enhance your employability in the industry. You will study a range of units which will provide you with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills, relevant to a wide range of roles within the Performing Arts. Students will have full use of our Theatre and dance studios on campus.

Core units include: The Performing Arts Industry; Professional Development.

Additional units include: Voice & Speech for Actors; Acting; Singing; Dance for Camera; Acting for Camera; Musical theatre history in practice.

This course is full-time studied over 12 months.

Entry requirements

GCSEs incl. English and Maths, 9-4 (A*-C). Alternative equivalency testing may be undertaken plus 2 A Levels at grade A-C (one of which should be Performance related) and Vocational - BTEC National Extended Diploma in a related subject.

Applicants without the formal qualifications for entry, but with appropriate experience and who can demonstrate a commitment to pursue a specialist area of study, would also be welcomed.

Where next?

Students can progress to various dance roles in stage and theatre, music industry, film and TV. Students can also progress on to a University Degree.
