This course offers students a broad introduction to the specialist area of Performing Arts (Dance). The aim of the course is to equip students with Dance skills, knowledge and the understanding necessary to achieve high performance in the global Performing Arts environment by improving both technique and overall fitness.
Students will benefit from industry standard dance studios and will be taught by experienced dance professionals and have full use of Theatre and dance studios on campus.
You will study a range of units which will provide you with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills, relevant to a wide range of roles within the Performing Arts and Dance Industry. Core units include: The Performing Arts Industry; Professional Development; Ballet
Additional units include: Jazz Dance; Contemporary Dance; Commercial Dance; Choreography; Dance for Camera.
This course is full-time studied over 24 months.
GCSEs incl. English and Maths, 9-4 (A*-C). Alternative equivalency testing may be undertaken. 2 A Levels at grade A-C (one of which should be Performance related) and Vocational - BTEC National Extended Diploma in a related subject.
Applicants without the formal qualifications for entry, but with appropriate experience and who can demonstrate a commitment to pursue a specialist area of study, would also be welcomed.
Students can progress to various dance roles in stage and theatre, music industry, film and TV. Students can also progress on to a University Degree.
