Additional Support and Disability Allowance

Additional Learning Support

If you have a medical condition, poor sight or hearing, learning difficulties such as Dyslexia and Dyspraxia or any other learning needs, our Additional Learning Support Team can help you. They provide services including one-to-one teaching, support in class, computer programmes, specialist equipment or interpreters. The team is based in new purpose-built facilities which include a supported study area. Additional support is available to ALL students. You can discuss your needs at your interview.

Note: 1-to-1 or in class support for Higher Education students is funded through a Disabled Students Allowance (DSA). If you have any of the following:

  • Specific Learning Differences - Dyslexia and Dyspraxia
  • Autistic Spectrum Conditions
  • Mental Ill Health
  • Physical or Sensory Impairments
  • Ongoing Medical Condition
  • Extra Support whilst at College or School
  • Access to Examination Arrangements

You could be eligible for a Disabled Support Allowance (DSA). It is advisable to arrange for an assessment for this prior to starting courses so that support can be agreed as soon as possible. To find out more contact: additionalsupport@newcollege.ac.uk or visit the DSA website
